How to Parry and Counter Attacks in Assassin’s Creed Origins

Recommended Videos

In past games of the series, all you had to do to parry an enemy attack was hold down a face button on your controller to make sure that you weren’t hit by an incoming strike, but that process has become a little bit more involved in Assassin’s Creed Origins. First off, it’s important to note that the counter ability isn’t available from the get-go; it’s a skill that needs to be unlocked with ability points as you level up.

Once you spend the points to unlock it, you’ll also need to equip Bayek with a shield in order to parry and counter-attacks properly. To do this, simply hold up your shield by holding down the L1 button (or LB if you’re on Xbox One), and then hit the Circle button (or B on Xbox One) just as the enemy swings their weapon at you and you’ll be able to parry their attack, leaving them momentarily stunned. Immediately after this, you can follow up and counter with an attack of your own to get some free damage in.

If you can get a hang of the parry timing, this is a great way to defend yourself instead of just blocking and dodging in Assassin’s Creed Origins.

That’s all you need to know to parry and counter attacks in the game. Be sure to check out our wiki for more information on Assassin’s Creed Origins.
