Gordon Hunt, known for his work as motion capture director on the Uncharted series as well as a sound director for Lair, Reaver 2, and much more, has unfortunately passed away at the age of 87. Hunt is also well known as the father of famed actress Helen Hunt.
Hunt reportedly died Saturday night peacefully in his home after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. He had been working up until quite recently when he became too ill.
Hunt had a career spanning the decades, beginning in the late 1950s. He worked on classic shows like Scooby-Doo and The Smurfs, worked as casting director at the Mark Taper Forum in L.A., ran the voice department at the animation house Hanna-Barbara, and taught an acting class for decades.
In the world of video games, Hunt has a lengthy and impressive work history. His credits, in addition to the previously mentioned titles, include work on SOCOM, Final Fantasy XIV, God of War II, The Last of Us, and Ace Combat. His full body of work can be found here.
Hunt is survived by his wife, B.J. Ward, his daughter Colleen, brothers Peter and George, and grandchildren Lizze, Makena, and Emmett, as well as by his daughter Helen.
