Pristine Shell – Owlboy
Completing the Boguin’s cannon challenge will net you the Pristine Shell. It may not seem like much at first, but it does have its uses, although they are limited. The item description reads “it may be used to communicate with the dead.” This enigmatic bit of information doesn’t point you to where the shell can be used but take it to the bottom left of Stratos and you’ll be treated to a special cutscene. It depicts an emotional moment between Geddy and Otus, reflecting on the events of their adventures up until that point.
After using it, the description will change, instead reading “it’s just a normal shell.” After that, the item has no real use. Working your way through the twists and turns of the cannon minigame may seem like a daunting task just to see a short cutscene, but it furthers character motivations and highlights Owlboy’s emotional narrative that it weaves.
You won’t be able to do this side activity until roughly halfway through the game. The shell isn’t obtainable without completing the cannon minigame, which doesn’t open up until after the destruction of Advent.
