If you’re here, you’re probably wondering whether or not creating a team is possible in Madden 17. Unfortunately, Create a team is still missing and was not added this year. Create a player still exists for you to add a made up player to a roster for fun, and you can also play as a player still in Franchise mode, but starting your own team from scratch is not a feature this year.
Instead of sending you off disappointed though, there are a couple of alternatives you could consider instead.
1: Create an Ultimate Team
In a lot of ways, Madden Ultimate Team (MUT) is the next best thing to creating your own team. You’ll be able to name your team whatever you want. You can put together a fantasy roster of your favorite players, and play them online or offline in various competitions. The only thing that’s really missing is the detail in crafting your uniforms and stadium and the like, but there is a lot here to like, and it can be quite addictive.
2: Relocate your team in Franchise mode
This is another viable option that certainly could scratch your itch to create a team in Madden 17. Pick a team with a crappy stadium such as the Chargers (do a fantasy draft if you really want things to be mixed up). Follow our guide for how to relocate and get that process moving. You’ll be able to pick from a select group of cities suitable for relocation, and you’ll have three team name choices per city and uniform options too. It’s not ideal, but this also could get the job done if what you really want to do is create your own team/franchise and manage it.
3: Play Madden 12
Yeah, if what you really want is the original create a team feature, then it’s off to Madden 12 for you. See if you can do what the Steelers couldn’t and beat up onĀ Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Damn when you think about it, things really don’t change. Three of the best QBs from that year: Brady, Roethlisberger and Rodgers are arguably the top three QBs in the league this year too, with Cam Newton thrown into that mix. Anyway we digress.
