Today, it was revealed that a retro shoot ’em up, DOGOS, is coming to PS4 next month.
The news came via a post on the PlayStation Blog from the Technical Director behind DOGOS, Pablo Testa. “DOGOS is inspired by classic shmup games like Xevious, R-Type, and Desert Strike… I wanted to update that amazing gameplay experience to the present day” Testa mentions in the blog post.
The game utilizes 3D graphics and a dynamic camera, to bring the sci-fi setting to life. Combined with the ability for players to move freely around the world in any direction as they take on wave after wave of enemies, DOGOS aims to offer players a modern-day shmup experience.
As you’d expect, there’ll be tons of challenging bosses, and a heck of a lot of explosions. Oh, and there’s a pretty catchy soundtrack to boot, too. You can check out DOGOS in its announcement trailer below.
The game is set to release on PS4 on Sept. 6 before heading to Xbox One and PC on Sept. 7. No price has been revealed as of yet.
