Dark Souls III: How to Invade Other People

Do it for the embers.

Invasions are back in Dark Souls III, and this time, you’re not just limited to being a scary red phantom. Invasions can be done in a few ways: by joining specific PVP covenants, using certain items, or becoming a duelist phantom.

Join the Aldrich Faithful covenant – As part of the Aldrich Faithful covenant, hang around the Anor Londo area with your covenant item equipped and wait for an Embered player to enter the area. You’ll be automatically summoned into the world of other Embered players as a bluish-red phantom and you can hunt them down from there.

Join the Blue Sentinels or the Blades of the Darkmoon covenant – You won’t be a red phantom in either of these covenants, but you will be automatically summoned into the worlds of other players who are getting invaded, as long as you are in the same area as them. Your job will be to protect the host and kill the invaders.

Use the Red Sign Soapstone – This isn’t an invasion method, exactly, but this item will allow you to duel other players also looking to engage in PVP. Some popular PVP spots include the ledge right after the Pontiff Sulyvahn fight, and the long narrow path before the Soul of Cinder fight.

Use the Red Eye Orb – This is the most reliable way of invading other players. You can use the Red Eye Orb anytime and anywhere to invade a player in the same area as you. The Cathedral of the Deep is a particularly fun invasion spot because there’s so much verticality for you to play around with. Do note that the Red Eye Orb can be used as many times as you want, but the Cracked Red Eye Orbs can only be used once.
