No, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Isn’t Getting a Winter Map… Yet

Winter is coming, but not to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds... for now.
This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

As some users have frantically pointed out this weekend, rumors and “leaks” have been circulating about a winter map for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. The images seen on Facebook appear to be of a picturesque snowy European countryside which would be ripe for a release this chilly winter season. It would probably also contrast pretty perfectly with the recent map in a dusty Mexican climate, right?

The truth is, as much as these screenshots are “real,” they aren’t screenshots from PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Trippy Leaks reports that these screenshots are, in fact, from the Finland map in War Thunder. Don’t lose hope if you’re excited for another new map, though. PlayerUnknown himself, Brendan Greene, has discussed recently that he’s looking forward to progress on a new map that takes place in the Adriatic Sea. The map is said to feature a Soviet-era Cosmodrome, although it’s important to note that the map is in planning stages, and thus not in active production. This is the only other map currently mentioned by Greene at the moment, so we’ll have to see.
