Rocket League Is Getting a Switch Demo — But Only in New York City

Just weird Nintendo doing weird things.

Always one to do things as weirdly as possible, Nintendo announced today that indie darling Rocket League will get a Switch demo — but it will only be playable at Nintendo New York.

“Ready to hit the pitch in Rocket League for Nintendo Switch?” the company tweeted. “Play the demo on 10/5 – 10/8 at Nintendo New York.”

So, the demo will only be available at Nintendo’s store in New York City’s Rockefeller Center. It won’t be playable at other stores, and it won’t be downloadable on consumers’ Switches via the eshop. The four days the demo will be available at Nintendo New York coincide with New York Comic Con, which will be held about 15 to 20 minutes away in New York’s Javits Convention Center.

Rocket League originally launched on PlayStation 4 and PC in 2015 before coming to Xbox One in 2016. A Switch port was announced during this year’s E3 in June and is expected to arrive this holiday.
