No Man’s Sky Update 1.3 Screenshots Show Portal with Glyphs and a New Ship

Our first look at update 1.3.

Two new screenshots for the upcoming No Man’s Sky update 1.3 surfaced online during Hello Games’s ongoing alternate reality game (ARG), and they offer a glimpse at a few never-before-seen content in the game world. The latest screenshot has an item in the foreground that bears semblance to an activation terminal with 16 glyph slots, while an inactive portal can be seen in the background. The other screenshot shows a new ship type docked near an observatory.

Both screenshots, which were shared on Reddit, offer our first glimpse at No Man Sky’s update 1.3. Hello Games has been teasing their next content update via their ARG, which took interested gamers on a wild ride as they have been directed to numerous cryptic websites, videos, PDF files, and a livestream. The ARG started with Hello Games sending a bunch of cassette tapes, which hinted implementation of Portals in an upcoming update. With update 1.3 largely hinted to launch in August, it’s fitting to finally see a Portal in the newest screenshot.

As spotted by a few Reddit users, the activation terminal in the Portal screenshot has the same symbols found on Waking Titan, which is the main website for No Man’s Sky’s ARG. Many likened the terminal to the address-dialing device found in the Stargate series, which is sound used to set coordinates for a certain destination.

Aside from Portals, other features teased before is a mysterious fourth race. At present, the game only has the Gek, Korvax, and Vy’keen races. Only time will tell if No Man’s Sky update 1.3 will have enough content to bring back players into the game.
