Midnight Club has been absent from the games industry since the release of Midnight Club: Los Angeles in 2008. That may be changing soon, though.

An eagle-eyed Reddit user discovered images hosted on XboxLive.com, which hints at the existence of a new entry in the series for the current generation platforms. The screenshots showed the game being played on Xbox One. The image of the title screen simply reads “Midnight Club”, so we still have no idea if this potential title could be a reboot for the series or an entry that is still in its early stages.

Since 2008, Rockstar has placed more focus on its tentpole franchises such as the titanically popular Grand Theft Auto series, and the recently revived and critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption. Some of its other titles, such as Midnight Club, Manhunt, and Bully never received sequels, but these titles clearly served as inspiration for several aspects in the company’s other games. Rockstar’s Table Tennis led to a surprisingly deep tennis side activity in GTA V, while the experience of developing a driving game gained through Midnight Club led to the best driving mechanics the GTA series had ever seen in GTA V.

With Red Dead Redemption 2 on the horizon and GTA Online still a huge success, perhaps the company is looking to resurrect some of its other franchises, letting a new crowd of gamers experience the vast array of experiences the talented folks at Rockstar are capable of creating.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is due out in Q2 of 2018 for Xbox One and PS4.
