Until Dawn 2 Is Being Talked About at Supermassive Games

Mo' teenagers, mo' killings.
This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

It’s been a little over a month since Supermassive Games and Sony put out Until Dawn. Even though the previews for it made it look cheesy as hell, people have really taken to it (including us!). With an endless branch of options that could save or kill everyone and a stellar cast of characters, the game has ended up being the fall season’s breakout star. The question now becomes: “when are we getting a sequel?” Supermassive isn’t exactly saying Until Dawn 2 is the next thing on their to-do list, but according to executive producer Pete Samuels in an interview with PlayStation Lifestyle, they’re at least talking about it:

“We do talk internally about what Until Dawn 2 could be, as it clearly can’t be a sequel in the traditional sense, with the same characters facing the same threat, not least of which because in different stories some or all of them are already dead! We’ve investigated other ways we could do Until Dawn 2 but it probably is a little early to be discussing that.”

Samuels added that the team will take what they’ve learned with Until Dawn to build on, whether it’s in “horror or other genres. We’re already working on one thing that does that.” He also pointed out that the game ended up “exceeding expectations” as far as sales are concerned. It was 7th place in the US for all of August, and hit ended its launch week in 2nd place over in the UK:

“It’s definitely surpassed expectations. I think that’s already been stated in other interviews, and reports of significant retail outlets running out of stock during the first weeks after release kind of supports that.”
