How to Beat Stone Talus – Zelda Breath of the Wild

Breath of the Wild’s rendition of Hyrule has a ton of secrets and formidable enemies lurking in its farthest stretches. However, there’s a good chance you could come across one of the world’s first sub-bosses, Stone Talus, within your first few hours. While you may want to reconsider taking it on straight away and returning when you have better equipment, there’s a fairly straightforward method you can follow to defeat it easily.

First things first, for those of you wanting to hunt down Stone Talus, you’ll want to return to the Great Plateau and head for its northwest corner. To the east of Hopper pond, you’ll find a clearing with a pile of rocks in the center. At this point, Stone Talus will reveal itself, so be prepared for the fight ahead.

Stone Talus is huge, and its rock throw attack will clear out a good portion of your health in one hit. As such, you’ll want to make sure you’re constantly on the move. This will make you much harder to land a hit on.

Stone Talus’ weak point is the chunk of ore that’s lodged into its back. To deal damage to it, though, you’re gonna have to get a lot closer than you’d ideally like to. Yep, get climbing up Stone Talus’ back and then pull out an Iron Sledgehammer or another mining weapon. Hold down Y until your attack is fully charged and let fly. As long as you landed the hit successfully, you should be able to take it down with this single swing.

Pick up the assortment of gemstones where Stone Talus stood as your rewards and continue on with your adventure. That’s all you need to do to beat this beast in Breath of the Wild.
