How to Snowboard on Your Shield – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Recommended Videos

You can do some pretty cool things while playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and one of those is using your shield as a means to slide down hills like a snowboarder. It’s fun to do, and the game doesn’t exactly make it clear that it’s possible. It’s also really easy.

First you’ll need a shield, which you can grab off of enemies. Equip the shield then press ZL to bring it up as if you were going to block. With the shield up, jump forward then press A. Link will jump on like a snowboard, riding down hills and mountains. You can still attack with your bow while doing this, and you can even perform tricks by pressing Y. Who knew that Link could shred like this?

Do keep in mind that this can destroy your shield, though. Like weapons, shields have durability, and that deteriorates as you use it. If it’s low, it will explode right from beneath your feet and send you tumbling down the hill, so keep an eye out for that.
