Dinraal – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Dinraal is one of the huge dragons you’ll encounter in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is the spirit of fire, but it’s not malicious or anything like that. In fact, it doesn’t bother anyone as it flies around between the Eldin Mountains and Tabantha Frontier. It won’t even attack you if you start firing arrows at it, which is a good thing because hitting this thing is challenging enough without having to worry about attacks coming from out of nowhere.
You can encounter Dinraal to the very north of the map directly between the East Deplian Badlands and Eldin Great Skeleton. There is a hill there that you can clearly see on your map, that makes for a good starting point for the encounter with Dinraal. Before you head there, make sure you have some heat resistant armor (the dragon is hot). The Flamebreaker armor is definitely the best outfit for this, and you can find out how to obtain it here. Also, bring a few bows and lots of arrows, as melee attacks are completely out of the question since you’ll be fighting in the sky. You’ll also want a lot of stamina, so either invest your Spirit Orbs in stamina, or make some food/elixirs that grant you more of it.
Dinraal will fly overhead, with the pressure and heat creating a perfect gust to carry you along on your glider. Jump up and catch the wind and fly alongside the Dragon. If you switch to aiming with your bow, you’ll slow down time temporarily, allowing you to shoot the glowing bits on Dinraal. Doing so will drop valuable resources including Dinraal’s Scale, which is needed to complete the Spring of Power Shrine Quest in East Akkala. Of course, when you shoot something off, make sure to follow its flight path as it falls to the ground. Don’t worry, you won’t actually kill the Dragon, you’re just shooting off pieces of it.
In order to farm this creature in Breath of the Wild, you can stay in that area we mentioned in order to start the encounter. After jumping up and shooting a piece of Dinraal off, just stay in the area and wait until morning (you can make a fire using a bundle of wood and either Flint or a Fire Arrow). Look overhead until Dinraal appears again and repeat the process.
