THE BIG GAMES
XBOX GAMES WITH GOLD FREE GAMES PREDICTIONS FOR APRIL 2018
Every month, those who subscribe to Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold service are gifted a few free games via the Games with Gold program. Usually, one or two larger AAA titles are the headliners to get subscribers excited about the service and looking forward to the lists revealed every month.
For our predictions, next month we suspect sports game Rocket League will be one of those titles for a few different reasons. Firstly, Rocket League has already been offered free on the Microsoft store in one way or another, as back in February 2017 Rocket League and NBA 2K17 were offered free from the 16th -19th in a special promotion.
As well, Rocket League is already available on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch in November 2017. While the game is most supported by Sony, as it was offered for free when it first released on the platform on PS Plus, when something is already available on multiple platforms there is unlikely that Microsoft would be hesitant in offering it for free on their own platform.
Another likely candidate would be Watch Dogs 2 from Ubisoft. Set in a fictionalized San Francisco, you play as hacker Marcus Holloway who is trying to take down the ctOS city surveillance service with his hacking group DedSec. Watch Dogs 2 would be a great inclusion as it was a popular and mostly well-received title that fans would be happy to get, and the first Watch Dogs has already been offered on Games with Gold back in May 2017.
Check out page two where we look at a possible indie game that could make the list for April 2018.
INDIES
XBOX GAMES WITH GOLD FREE GAMES PREDICTIONS FOR APRIL 2018
Finally, after a few larger games an indie title from a smaller studio usually makes the monthly list for Games with Gold as well. Our prediction for that indie game for April 2018 is beautiful, underwater exploration game Abzu, which features music from the famous composer behind the Grammy-nominated Journey, Austin Wintory.
Abzu would be a great inclusion as it was both a well-respected and well-received indie when it first released back in Spring 2016. It has also already been offered for free on Sony’s PS Plus service back in May 2017, so Microsoft wouldn’t be the first to offer it for free via a subscription service. If you don’t see Abzu on Games with Gold next month, then expect it sometime on the service in the near future.
Make sure to check back with Twinfinite in a few weeks when the true list of all the free games for Xbox Games with Gold April 2018 are officially announced.
