Where To Buy A Nintendo Switch

Recommended Videos

After months of waiting, the Nintendo Switch is finally here. And if you happen to have missed the chance to pre-order the console beforehand, as it was already sold out at a number of major retailers since January, hopefully this article will give you a good idea of where to start looking for one now.

WALMART

Walmart started selling the Nintendo Switch at 12:01 am local time on March 3 for walk-in shoppers at a number of their supercenter stores. And even though the chances of finding a console at one of these stores may not be very high, regular 24 hour stores were not in fact open at the midnight launch, and the company has advised customers to call ahead to confirm what time the units will be available for sale.

TARGET

While Target is all sold out of the consoles on their website, the retailer kept some stock on hand for walk-in customer. According to fliers distributed by the company, their stores began selling the Nintendo Switch at 8am local time.

GAMESTOP

GameStop has previously confirmed that although the retailer has been sold out of pre-orders for a long time, they will be keeping a limited supply of consoles on hand for walk-in customers at launch. They will also be selling two different bundles, each of which will include a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

TOYS R US

Toys R Us stores are set to recieve new shipments of the Nintendo Switch this Sunday, on March 5, and they will go on sale at exactly 10 am local time. So if you want to get your hands on a console, make sure to get there as early as possible.

BEST BUY

Best Buy held midnight openings at a number of their stores across the country. And while the retailer is more or less sold out of the consoles in both these locations and their online store, the best chance anyone has of getting a hold of the Nintendo Switch from them is to look for which stores did not hold early openings, and start searching there.

AMAZON

Although Amazon is currently all sold out of their week one allocation of Nintendo Switch consoles, the website is set to receive new stock any day now. And even if you don’t want to order the console in advance, it’s a good idea to keep a watchful eye on the site, and refresh often.

NINTENDO WORLD STORE

If you happen to live in New York city, then the Nintendo World Store is probably going to be your best chance at being able to get a Nintendo Switch. Their official website hyped the initial launch with the words, “The Nintendo Switch launches at Midnight! Stay tuned for more details!”
