Prolific small-run publisher Limited Run Games announced the pre-order for their physical version of the upcoming beat-’em-up today , Streets of Rage 4, for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
Coming on March 20th, the release will be offered in an open preorder window starting at 10 am Eastern on Friday, lasting until one week after the launch of the game digitally.
The return to this classic franchise has been long-anticipated, and the development teams DotEmu, Guard Crush Games, and Lizardcube have been known to create some great reimaginings in the past.
Between the announcement of the original composers, Yūzō Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima, returning to write the music for this entry, and the slow trickle of news from character announcements and returning favorites, this is a title that fans of the old-school co-op beat ’em ups will be glad to see a return to.
Other than the standard version, there will also be a “Classic Edition” on sale featuring the game, an official SteelBook, and a custom Genesis clamshell case with reversible art. This edition will also run with an open preorder on the Limited Run Games website.
A Limited Edition version with even more goodies will be available sometime after the launch of Streets of Rage 4.
Since the digital release date has not been announced, the reveal and release for Streets of Rage 4 could be right around the corner.
