Judgment: How to Change Language (English/Japanese)

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Judgment is the latest title from the studio behind the Yakuza series, this time telling the story of a lawyer turned detective, named Takayuki Yagami, as he investigates a string of serial murders in Kamurocho. Unlike most Yakuza games, however, Judgment features a full English dub, so here’s how to change language (English/ Japanese) in Judgment.

How to Change Language (English/Japanese) in Judgment

When you first start up Judgment you’ll be given an option of playing the game in English or Japanese, which will then decide the language of the spoken dialogue. Of course, at some point, while you’re playing you might decide you want to change from Japanese and try out English, or vice verse. Luckily, you can do just that.

If you’re in the game press Options to open Yagami’s smartphone menu. From there just go to Settings at the very bottom, or if you’re on the main menu screen just select options from there. Now tab all the way over to the left and select Other, where you’ll see an Audio Language option.

With this, you can change between English and Japanese whenever you want, but be aware that doing so will boot you back to the title screen while the game reloads.

It is pretty neat, however, that you can do this at any time on any save.

What It Changes

Simply put, the Audio Language option changes the spoken dialogue in the game, any scene or section that has voice acting behind it. It should be noted that, like any dub, lines and their delivery will change from what you would see in the text with Japanese dialogue.

There are sections of the game that are only text, however, and these will stay exactly the same as if you had Japanese for the audio.

That’s everything you need to know about how to change the language in Judgment. For even more tips and guides make sure to search Twinifnite or take a look at our Judgment guide wiki.
