This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Pokemon GO allows wannabe trainers to embark on their own Pokemon adventure out in the open world. Of course, you’ll want to make sure that your little on-screen character looks as much like you as possible. Here’s how to change the appearance of your character.

When you first start the game, you’ll be asked to choose the gender of your character, and then go through some basic customization options to switch up the clothing choices. Once you’re happy with how your character looks, simply confirm it and proceed to enjoy your Pokemon adventure.

Of course, in all of the excitement of getting to play the game, you may take a second look at your character after confirming and realize that you want to change something about them. Up until recently, it was not possible for you to change your character’s appearance once you had confirmed you were happy with their look at the beginning of the game. However, following update 0.31.0, all you have to is click on the bottom left icon that shows off your trainers face and click on the menu button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

From here, you should see a tab that says “Customize”. Tap this and then you’ll be taken to the character creation menu. Make the changes to your character’s appearance and then tap the check button at the bottom of the screen to save this for good. Now that horrible fashion nightmare your character was sporting can finally be changed.
