15 Games to Look out for in February 2016

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 – Awakening (Feb. 2)

February gets kicked off with one of the biggest franchises in gaming right now. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is the latest in a long line of first person shooters from Activision. What sets this one apart is its offer of a campaign, fast-paced multiplayer, and zombie horde mode. The multiplayer and horde mode will be seeing some new action with the release of the first DLC pack, Awakening, releasing.

Due to a change in deals, this DLC will be releasing first on the PS4, so Xbox One and PC players will have to wait until next month to get their hands on the new maps and chapter in the zombie saga. 

Crypt of the Necrodancer (Feb. 2)

Do you like crawling through dungeons, collecting loot as you go? Can you not stop moving to the sounds of sick beats and dope tunes? Is dying a permanent thing in your eyes? Then Crypt of the Necrodancer is something that should be right up your alley.

It’s been on PC for some time, but this new spin on a rogue-like, dungeon-crawler helps to set it apart. You must move with the beat and it turns every encounter into a puzzle of sorts. Now that it’s coming to the PS4 and PS Vita, you really have no reason not to give it a chance (unless, of course, you have neither a PS4 or a Vita). 

Gravity Rush Remastered (Feb. 2)

One of the best games on the Vita is about to become one of the best games on the PS4. Gravity Rush is an open world adventure that puts players in control of gravity itself as they work their way and fight through a thrilling story.

Take control of Kat as she struggles with the loss of her memory and the plight of this unknown world. Soar through the sky, flip the world upside down, and become an all-around badass. Tear through enemies, upgrade your skills, solve puzzles, and experience the rush. 

Not a Hero (Feb. 2)

BunnyLord needs to save the world. The only way he knows how to do that is to go back in time and run for office. While doing so, he’s going to need some questionable individuals to take care of the bad guys trying to ruin the grand nation. That’s where you come in.

Take control of one of the many “heroes” as you slide, bash, shoot, and detonate your way through fast paced levels built to test your reflexes and style. Coming from the folks who brought us OlliOlli, you just know things are going to get really intense, really fast. 

Agatha Christie – The A.B.C. Murders (Feb. 4)

Anybody can kill someone in a video game, but it takes a very sharp mind to figure out who’s doing all of the killing in your quaint town. Agatha Christie – The A.B.C. Murders puts players in control of detective Poirot as he investigates the mysterious serial killings that have begun.

Beautiful visuals, a thrilling case, and a true test of wit are what’s in store for PC players looking to put their sleuthing skills to the test. Will you be able to get to the bottom of it all before anyone else has to die? 

XCOM 2 (Feb. 5)

After a bit of delay, XCOM 2 is finally heading to PC this month. Get ready for some intense strategic action as every single decision you make holds the weight of your team members’ lives and the fate of humanity. Recruit and train your soldiers through multiple missions that pit players against a powerful alien force. Increase your military’s power through research, uncover the enemy’s weakness, and, most importantly, survive.

One of the best strategy RPGs returns with a proper sequel, and this time things have gotten a lot more challenging.

Dying Light: The Following (Feb. 9)

Dying Light came out of nowhere in the beginning of 2015 and managed to impress with its take on a zombie outbreak. Exhilarating parkour, brutal melee combat, weapons crafting, and an RPG skills system helped turn the open world adventure into one worth remembering. Dying Light looks to change zombie gaming once again with its upcoming expansion: The Following.

Set in a an even bigger open world, you are finally out of the confines of Harran. An upgrade-able buggy, new skills, new weapons, and new threats are what await Kyle Crane. You have a lot more than the dark to fear now. Dying Light: The Following is coming to  PS4, Xbox One, and PC. 

Firewatch ( Feb. 9)

A beautiful, first-person adventure game that places you in the Wyoming wilderness. Your job is to look out for fires from your tower. It’s simple until somebody breaks into your tower when you step a way for a moment. Now, weird things are happening and you have to look for clues to figure out why.

With only Delilah (your superior) to talk to on your walke-talkie, the sense of isolation will become real as time passes in this dense forestry. What exactly hides among the trees is something you’ll have to find out when the game hits PS4 and PC. 

Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninjas Storm 4 (Feb. 9)

The final chapter of Naruto is about to hit PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The true goal of the Akatsuki is made clear as a powerful enemy emerges. At the same time, allegiances are being made, new heroes rise, and friendships are tested as all of your favorite ninjas step in to do battle against seemingly impossible to overcome forces.

Witness it all first-hand as you take control of dozens of ninjas and face fierce warriors as well as giant bosses. It’s time to show the world your very own ninja way. 

Project X-Zone 2 (Feb. 16)

Project X-Zone 2 gives 3DS owners a chance to once again mix up the best that Capcom, Bandai Namco, and Sega have to offer in a tactical RPG. This time, some Nintendo characters have been thrown into the mix, as well, so you’ll get to see the likes of Chrom and Lucina step into this mash-up adventure.

With the best of the best showing up to do battle, it’s up to you to make sure to get the job done. Take advantage of pairs, links, combos, and more as you bring the hurt to the enemy with your favorite characters. 

Street Fighter V (Feb. 16)

One of the biggest fighting franchises in gaming is finally getting another real sequel. Street Fighter V mixes up some of the best fighters from the previous games with some new contenders in the best looking entry yet. Battle it out with the same insane combos you remember, but with some added twists to keep things fresh.

What makes this game even better is the cross platform play between the console exclusive PS4 version and the PC version.

Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright/Conquest (Feb. 19)

Fire Emblem returns with two tales that pit players in the same war as they fight alongside the main characters and learn each one’s drive and motivations. The Nohr and Hoshido kingdoms are being driven against one another and you must side with one as you help them overcome everything that comes their way.

Who will you side with, and what bonds will you build as you journey through a yet another fantastic adventure? Only you can decide your fate. 

Far Cry Primal (Feb. 23)

Far Cry has wowed players with its tropical locations and meshing of technology and nature. Fighting through military bases surrounded by wild animals, relying on guns and drugs, blowing up everything to high hell, and driving around as you did it all. It was fun, but it wasn’t true survival.

Far Cry Primal brings the action way back to a time when you couldn’t rely on a radio call or a well-placed grenade. You’ll need to become one with the wild as you battle ferocious beasts, as well as the most dangerous foes out there; your fellow humans. 

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 (Feb. 23)

The plants are back! However, so are the zombies. The surprising third-person shooter returns with more characters to choose from, bigger maps, and crazier weapons. There is even a story that pits you against the zombies evil forces on the moon and a hub where you can meet others and find more fun outside of the arenas.

Join in and protect against the brain-eating hordes on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. 

Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow (Feb. 27)

The games that started it all will be released on the 3DS eShop at the end of this month. Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow provided millions of players with their very first experience of catching one of those powerful beasts. Choose one of the original starters and set out in the Kanto region as you strive to be the very best like no one ever was.

Sometimes it’s great to go back to a series’ roots and see just how much has changed, and there’s no better opportunity right now than with Pokemon. You may be surprised to find a new favorite among the classics.
