nioh 2

The sequel to Nioh officially revealed itself during Sony’s conference. With Nioh releasing just last year it was very unexpected to already see a trailer for another one. The trailer did not show much of the game, so it is safe to assume it is still a ways away, but knowing its happening is enough for now. Team Ninja proved themselves with the first installment, and I am excited to see them take the ideas and lessons they learned to a whole new level.

Resident Evil 2 Remake

After three years of almost complete silence about the development of Resident Evil 2 Remake we finally get a look at it. Capcom delivered a trailer that paired the beauty of these new environments with the horror and dread of the events that took place. The trailer showcased iconic areas like the police station and burning helicopter. Fans of the long-awaited remake wont have to hold out for much longer, because Resident Evil 2 Remake releases on January 25, 2019.

Deracine

After the conference ended and the lights went down we moved over to the Sony post show where they had one more game to announce, and that game was Deracine. Developed by the one and only From Software, Deracine is a story about a spirit that is summoned by a young girl in a secluded boarding school. The story unfolds and the spirit will use its powers to manipulate life and time to change the fate of the students. Deracine is for PSVR and is coming sometime in 2018.

Kingdom Hearts 3

Kingdom Hearts 3, the Final Fantasy Disney crossover developed by Square Enix made its third press conference appearance at Sony this E3. Kingdom Hearts had a trailer in both Microsoft and Square’s own press conference before it made its appearance here. Showing off a world from Disney’s popular Frozen movie, as well as some extra story beats for the overarching story. At Sony, however, they debuted an entirely new trailer showcasing the returning Pirates of the Caribbean world from Kingdom Hearts 2. This is a where Unreal Engine really shines in turning the horrifying faces of the second installment into something that actually looks great. We see Captain Jack Sparrow and Sora teaming up, large Pirate battles that could rival Sea of Thieves, and some familiar faces like Axel and Kairi. Kingdom hearts 3 releases on January 29, 2019.

Death Stranding

Death Stranding once again makes an appearance on the Sony E3 stage. The biggest difference this time is we actually saw what we can understand to be gameplay. With previous showings of Death Stranding, we would walk away feeling like we knew less and less about this game while simultaneously being more and more intrigued. This year, we witnessed a trailer that showed Norman Reedus’ Character walking around carrying bodies, packages, and even a baby, in a third-person style adventure gameplay. They showed a clear stealth section that had the protagonist crouching and holding his breath as he walked around giant floating black goo monsters. Death Stranding still has no release date or even a whisper of a potential year.
