Destiny: The Taken King How To Get Legendary Marks

This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Destiny: The Taken King is now out in the wild and has brought about a lot of new changes. Particularly the old Crucible and Vanguard marks have been replaced with a new currency: Legendary Marks. These are obtained very differently in Year Two than they were in Year One.

Instead of grinding out a small number of activities as it was in the past, there are now a wide variety of ways to get Legendary Marks. Many people have already hit the new level cap without the need of Legendary Marks, as experience points now determine your level. However, light level is still important as high level activities, such as the Nightfall Strike, need a certain light level score to participate in them. So while you might have hit the cap, you’re going to need to start getting Legendary Marks quickly in order get better gear and advance further. Here are the easiest ways to get Legendary Marks.

Participate in the Daily Crucible Map

Of all the ways to get Legendary Marks in Destiny: The Taken King, this one is probably the easiest. Simply run the daily Crucible map located in the bottom left corner of Destiny’s navigation screen. It may not be your favorite game type, but get over it and claim your 15 Legendary Marks

Dismantle Year Two Legendary Gear You Don’t Need

Did you get a gun you don’t like from an engram? Or maybe you had bad luck and received a duplicate piece of armor? Instead of having it take up space in your inventory, dismantle that sucker and pick up some extra Legendary Marks. You could get up to five depending on how leveled it was.

Finish Up Quests

While not all quests grant Legendary Marks as a reward, some do! Check your quest log and knock out the ones that hook you up with some marks above others.

Complete the Daily Heroic Story

You’ll need to have gotten a few pieces of legendary equipment before you can take this one on, but once you’re around 240 light, complete the Daily Heroic Story Mission for 15 legendary marks.

Run the Heroic Strike Playlist

Finally, once you’ve gotten your light to pretty respectable levels and are decked out in purple gear, take on the Heroic Strike Playlist for additional Legendary Marks. You’ll get 10 for each of your first three strikes. After that you’ll have to wait for the weekly reset.

And that just about does it. Be sure to check out our Destiny: The Taken King Wiki Guide for more TTK tips & tricks! Safe travels!
