Looks like the fight to save humanity has been delayed, Commander. Firaxis has taken to the XCOM 2 website to announce that they’ve gone and delayed the game till Feb 5, 2016.

According to the rather short post by Firaxis, the reason for pushing back the release date was because they want more time to add more to… well, everything. In their own words:

“We’ve set a high bar for the sequel and the entire team has been working hard to make sure we deliver a great follow-up to Enemy Unknown. We just need a little more time to make it the best possible game.

With XCOM 2, we want to have more depth, more replayability, and more investment in your soldiers and this extension will give us the time we need to deliver on our promise to you.”

Back in June, Firaxis revealed that XCOM 2 will be a PC exclusive and an interview with Gamespot revealed that they’re looking to fix with some of the original game’s issues. One such issue is the overpowered sniper class and the game’s decline in difficulty.

So what do you think of the news that XCOM 2 has been delayed until February? Let us know in the comments below.
