This Insane Kanye West Game Conspiracy Theory is Actually Real

This is the stuff of nightmares.
This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Kanye Quest 3030 got real freaky real quick. Today, Patricia Hernandez of Kotaku reported on one of the creepiest easter eggs that I’ve personally ever read about. This isn’t a fake creepypasta like those crazy Pokemon conspiracy theories, no this Kanye Quest 3030 easter egg, if that’s what you want to call it, is the real freaking deal.

Here’s a quick rundown: Kanye Quest 3030 is an unofficial, un-yeezy sanctioned JRPG where rapper Kanye West rap battles clones in the future. Silly and cool right?

Well it’s all fun and games until you reach this strange terminal that, at a quick glance, just utters gibberish:

A poster on Pastebin, noticed some words in there: ASCEND and worship The Based God. OK kind of weird but whatever right? Well there’s a character later on in the game that asks you what you want to do and gives you a prompt to respond back. With exception of one word which we’ll get to in a second she usually just does something like this:

But if you type in the word Ascend this happens:

You’re also greeted into this strange surreal area with the following text:

Congratulations! You have proven yourself to be an open-minded and curious thinker. We must apologise for deceiving you, but we can reveal that the game you were playing until this point was a ‘front’ constructed to protect what you are currently accessing. We must ask that you do not reveal this area to the public. If you believe that you may be prone to revealing information, or do not wish to participate, please close this program immediately by pressing ALT-F4 or selecting the NO option when it appears. By selecting the YES option, you agree to participate and not reveal information.

From this point on shit gets really fucking real. If you want the full detailed story, I encourage you to click on over to Kotaku and read Patricia Hernandez’s full account, it is WELL worth it.

If you want the TLDR version though here it is:  Essentially after wandering that strange area above, you’ll come across terminals that block your path. Each time you input the correct password into the right terminal, the screen would get darker while an unsettling tone plays in the background.

After wandering around and encountering bizarre random battles, Patricia found the final terminal and received this super creepy message:

You have proven your worth once again. You have ascended. However, further ascension is always possible. If you do not wish to ascend further, your journey ends here, so please close this program by pressing ALT-F4 or selecting the NO option above. By selecting the YES option, you agree to participate further and you grant us permission to interact with your possessions. Would you like to participate?

If you choose NO, you get sent to the title screen. If you choose YES, it shows this:

Over the following two week time period, we will interact with you and your possessions in several ways. Keep an eye out, as some of these ways may be subtle. Others may not be. We may attempt to contact you directly. If we do this, we will attempt to notify you of our prescence using a key-word. If you still consent to participation, please select the YES option above. Do you wish to participate?

If you say yes the game asks you for your address…….. Yeah seriously. The rest of the article discusses a possible theory that this game is a recruitment tool for a cult. Patricia has reached out to the developers to no avail. She concludes that it’s probably just a hoax to drum up publicity for the game but if you’re a conspiracy theorist at heart, you’ll eat up the Pastebin user’s theory.

Again, go check out the full story for yourself and let us know what you think. Has anyone else tried this out? We’re dying to know. You can download the game here if you want to give it a shot for yourself.
