The new screenshots shown below give us a look at both returning and new characters, as well as locations and monsters. You can see the returning love interest from the first Witcher game Shani, as well as the “mysterious Man of Glass”. There’s a particulary interesting looking location in one of the screenshots as well, that seems to be some kind of mansion that’s a dead giveaway for being haunted.

Hearts of Stone will take place in locations already within the main game of The Witcher 3, like No Man’s Land and Oxenfurt. Geralt will be assigned quests from the Man of Glass himself,

“Step again into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, this time hired to defeat a ruthless bandit captain, Olgierd von Everec, a man who possesses the power of immortality,” the Hearts of Stone description reads.

The new expansion will also feature a “runeword” system that will supposedly drastically alter gameplay and different aspects of in-game mechanics.

Hearts of Stone will contain 10 hours of brand new gameplay along with fresh faces and enemies, all while telling a new story shaped by player choices

“The expansion lets you choose your own path through an experience that includes recruiting a crew of break-in artists, spending a night partying with a ghost, and outsmarting the most bizarre creatures Geralt has ever faced.”

The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone will release on October 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It’s priced at  $9.99, however a special edition was also announced that will see a retail release at $19.99. A second expansion for the game called Blood and Wine, will be releasing in spring of 2016. Are you excited to continue the adventure as Geralt of Rivia?
