Blizzard Entertainment’s powerhouse RTS of Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void will release this November 10th. The second and final expansion pack for Starcraft II follows the futuristic, psionic species of the Protoss; however, Legacy of the Void will be a standalone chapter of Starcraft II, much like the previous Starcraft II expansion of Heart of the Swarm.
To coincide with the release date announcement, Blizzard commissions the three-minute opening cinematic where your character, Hierarch Artanis, decimates attacking beasts. The events take place after the expansion Heart of the Swarm where the Protoss are now homeless and hell bent on revenge. The official StartCraft Youtube channel has more to say about the story in Legacy of the Void.
“In Legacy of the Void, the upcoming StarCraft II stand-alone expansion, you are Hierarch Artanis, leader of the mighty protoss race. Years ago, your homeworld of Aiur fell to the merciless zerg Swarm. Now, at long last, you have raised a powerful fleet of warships known as the Golden Armada, and are poised to reclaim your world. But an ancient evil—Amon—threatens this destiny and the fate of the entire galaxy. Only you can reunite the protoss factions and defeat the coming darkness before it consumes all life in the sector.”
A pre-purchase of the game opens up the Whispers of Oblivion prologue missions. These missions will be playable early in the Beta client. In addition, to service Blizzard’s MOBA of Heroes of the Storm, purchasers of Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void receive the hero Artanis as a playable character. Artanis is one of three upcoming characters coming to Heroes of the Storm.Â
