Download Skywind to Play Morrowind in the Skyrim Engine

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Morrowind is easily my favorite Elder Scrolls game, and I’ve been saying for a while now that I’d kill (or at any rate, pay handsomely) to play it in the Skyrim engine. If I had to choose only one game to play for the remainder of my life, that would be it. So when I saw this trailer, I was rendered speechless.

The insanely talented modders at Morroblivion are making my fondest dream a reality. Since everyone loves a good portmanteau, the 3.5GB mod that allows you to play Morrowind inside of Skyrim is called Skywind (which has a much better ring to it than “Morrowrim”). Recently, its first alpha build was released, and it looks incredible.

Since its still in alpha, some features (including quests) are not yet available. But you can walk around and explore the weird and wonderful island of Vvardenfell, which has never been so beautifully rendered. Just seeing some of the familiar sights, like the lighthouse in Seyda Neen and the Palace of Vivec, has filled me with an unspeakable joy. Skywind will enter beta as soon as the main quest, and hopefully other quest lines, are playable. I absolutely can’t wait to see (and play) the finished product from Morroblivion.

To use the Skywind mod, both Skyrim and Morrowind (including its expansions Tribunal and Bloodmoon) must be installed. You can find instructions for installation and download the alpha build of Skywind here. May you walk on warm sands.
