The announcement was made on the official Mafia Facebook page where they informed fans that the reveal will happen on August 5 at 8 AM ET. The news was revealed along with an image showing the Mafia III logo.

Besides the image, 2K Games didn’t announce anything else about Mafia III, but, if the comments section is anything to go by, fans are excited about the news to say the least. It’s been nearly five years since the last Mafia game hit store shelves, so for many this is long overdue.

The Mafia series started back in 2002 for the PC with Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. The game was later ported to the PS2 and the Xbox in 2004. A sequel, simply titled Mafia 2, was later made in 2010 for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. That game also happens to hold the world record for most F-bombs dropped in a game back in 2010.
