Leading up to its release, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain had quite the bumpy road when it came to crediting a certain game producer. Kojima was removed from the packaging of Metal Gear Solid V: TPP (something that we quickly rectified), which came as a shock since his name was emblazoned across the top of every previous release.
The tension between Hideo Kojima and Konami built up so high that many were wondering if his name would appear in the game at all. It turns out that Kojima’s name not only appears in the game, but you can see it hundreds of times.
Every chapter is treated sort of like an episode in a television show. At the beginning of your mission you’ll see the “stars” of the episode (Snake and whatever named NPCs will be making an appearance), followed by those opening credits that you see during television shows that continue after the opening song. Hideo Kojima had quite a few roles to play so his name pops up during each of these sequences.
While episodic styled missions are nothing new to gaming, it’s pretty funny that players will see Kojima’s name flash on the screen so many times after Konami made such a huge effort to get his name off of posters and cover art for Metal Gear Solid V: TPP.
It sort of makes you wonder if Kojima knew something would happen and wanted to make sure he left his mark everywhere. What do you think about the massive amounts of credits in MGS V? Feel free to let us know in the comments below.
