Conker’s Bad Fur Day was a game on the Nintendo 64 (and later remade on the original Xbox as Conker: Live & Reloaded) and starred a foul-mouthed squirrel with a drinking problem. Project Spark–a do it yourself creation game for the Xbox One and PC–is set to release Episode 1 of what they’re calling the Conker’s Big Reunion DLC on April 23rd, and it looks to be shaping up as a semi-sequel for the titular squirrel.
A trailer for the DLC was released yesterday on the Project Spark youtube channel, and shows off some gameplay that appears reminiscent of the type of action-platforming style that fans of the dirty squirrel have come to expect.
The DLC pack retails for $5 and will last about an hour, and is described by the team as starting “…with a squirrel and an overdue bar tab.” Seems like a plausible scenario for Conker, to be honest.
However, if you’re interested in making your own Conker-styled content Project Spark will also offer a Conker Mega Pack which will contain the aforementioned Big Reunion DLC, along with the Conker Creation Pack–providing 350 Conker-themed assets for you to play around with–as well as Champion’s Quest Episode 1, all for $10.
As for whether or not Conker will ever get a full-fledged sequel of his own–don’t hold your breath–because according to Xbox’s own Phil Spencer on twitter, “it’s just not being worked on right now by Rare or any other studio.”
Project Spark‘s Design Director Brad Rebh expressed his hope that “Conker’s Big Reunion is going to set the bar for how to build a great Conker game.”
For those seeking their Conker-fix it looks like they’ll have to share Rebh’s hope, as the only option for Conker seems to be Project Spark for the time being.
