Minecraft mods

Sorry for the tardiness of your beloved monthly list of best Minecraft mods. If you’re looking for someone to blame, pin it on that person you don’t like at work. You know, __________? Yeah, that guy! Screw him and his anti-Minecraft ways. Feel free to sock him one next time you see him. Right in the teeth/gut/nether regions if you’re feeling particularly saucy.

So let’s take a look at the first Minecraft mod on our list. It adds new villages, mobs, dungeons and much more to give everything a fresh look and feel. Whether or not you possess the bravery to go toe-to-toe with hideous slimes and cow warriors can mean the difference between life or death.

It even gives you dandy biomes that take you to lush forests, wasteland plains, and a cacti desert. That last one is a great place for hiding bodies, in case you were wondering.

Aerial Affinity

Have you ever been flying majestically through the air, and said to yourself, ‘jeepers, I sure wish that I could mine effectively while I was up here?’

Being neither wizard nor human cannonball, I can’t say I ever have myself, but if you’re known to be hovering in the sky on occasion, you might get a kick out of a mod that removes the mining speed penalty whenever you’re not touching the ground.

It works similarly to how Aqua Affinity does the same for underwater mining. No word on whether it has any relation to Fur Affinity, however.

Fossil Food

Fossils are good. But are they good enough… to eat?

Well, I guess it depends on what your standards are. If you’re keen to take a bite out of history, download the Fossil Food mod and just straight up consume fossils with reckless abandon. It gives a whole new meaning to the idea of fossil fuel.

If that’s not quite your cup of tea, you might just want to smelt it instead to make fossilized toast. It’ll be completely charred and probably won’t taste very good, but let’s face it – you eat fossils. You probably won’t be fazed if it’s burnt.

Warning: they probably won’t let you in museums any more. It was very upsetting for that school group last time.

Pointless Tech

And so ends the streak of mods with titles of grand alliteration. That sure was fun while it lasted.

In its place, we instead receive needless excess, which is all very appropriate in the modern era. Your Minecraft world won’t feel complete without a laptop, television, speakers, synthesizer keyboard and synthesizer stand.

They don’t actually serve any purpose, but they’re a damn side cheaper than they are in the real world, and all of your friends will be very impressed by your technological wizardry. You can either explain your haul by telling them you work in IT, or that you stole it off the back of a truck.

Overloaded Armor Bar

Minecraft mods

Get this, yo. You’ve just decked yourself in the sweetest armor. Better than anything in the world. Better than mango, even.

But your daft UI won’t accurately represent the full extent of your might. It just caps itself out at 20 and calls it a day, like a failure. A quitter. A dog of the house of Montague!

Don’t worry, we’ve got your hookup: a mod that allows your armor bar to be displayed as different colored configurable icons. Now you’re ready to fight in the great war, all the while knowing exactly how spectacular your armor is, through the simple magic of color.

…Yeah, this entry seemed weird, even to me.

Realistic Cars

Minecraft mods

One for the motor heads out there. This one does exactly what it claims, by giving you a range of realistic cars to hoon around in. It’s early days for this one, so they don’t make any sound, but if you need a canonical answer, you can just proclaim that your Minecraft character is a good samaritan who doesn’t believe in noise pollution.

Some might say that this mod is wheelie good!

But only if they want to be pummeled for attempting such terrible humor. Great if you’re a masochist, not so much for everyone else.

Apotheosis

best Minecraft mods

Ever get the feeling that some mods are gourmet mods? For the affluent Minecrafters who seek the finer things in life. If they could charge for Minecraft mods, this one would probably cost more than most of the population makes in a year. In fact, only Kendall Jenner can afford this mod. I have literally decided this just now.

So what are you missing out on in Kendall Jenner’s favorite mod? New potions, enchantments, and dangers through the use of mythical tomes, ancient altars and suspicious potions. It sure sounds like a lot of fun…

Don’t worry, though, just this once, we’ll let you download it for free. Please don’t let the Jenners find out, they’ll have our heads by sundown.

Slide’em ALL

best Minecraft mods

The ambiguity of its name might make your mind wander in all sorts of odd directions, but this is in fact a drawbridge-related mod. Alas, it does not let you slide everywhere across the map like a giant, eccentric penguin. Perhaps one of March’s mods will?

Still, one cannot deny the appeal of the elegant drawbridge, descending to allow access to your kingdom, or so that your soldiers may gallop out to defend thy nation like in Game of Thrones or the opening credits of Gummi Bears.

It can be extended to a maximum of 64 blocks, which frankly sounds like an obtusely long bridge that could potentially be used to simply bop approaching foes on the noggin. A clever ruse, if ever there was one!

Valiux: Adventures & Ores!

Minecraft mods

Should you want your mods to give you maximum value, you’ll no doubt be delighted to see that Valiux offers both adventures and ores in equal measure. Perhaps skewed more towards ores than adventures, but only just a little.

This mod brings thrilling new mini bosses and mobs into your world, and promises additional biomes and an extra dimension in a future update. Its main drawcard is the myriad of minerals it adds, such as Valium, Zerite, Detium and Lydium.

They may sound like the virgin daughters of an eccentric southern dandy, but they can be used to craft legendary weapons that you must not actually use as weapons. You’re supposed to save them in order to then create an ultimate weapon later on, but come on – as if I’m not going to wield something as badass as the Corruption Blade.

Blockhead

best Minecraft mods

Sometimes mods don’t receive quite as much attention as we feel it should. This particular one has less than 300 downloads at the time of writing, but we’re confident that with the extra boost we’re giving it, it will almost double in number. Especially if that number is the 0 part.

Through use of this mod, you’ll be able to put blocks on your head! That’s right, on your friggin’ head. You’ll be the life of the party, and countless riches and fame are certain to come your way.

Maybe people will even call you Charlie Brown, in line with your new reputation as a blockhead. Peanuts references are still topical, right?
