Clean Slate in 2015
It’s already a week into 2015 which means it’s about time you start leaving everything from last year behind. 2014 may have had some great high moments but it will undoubtedly be remembered mostly for everything that went wrong. But gamers want nothing but fun right? So why bring in all that negativity from the past 12 months?
2015 brings a fresh start for gamers who just couldn’t deal with everything that was going wrong. Even better is that studios now have the opportunity to rethink and reevaluate every wrong move they made last year. Companies like Ubisoft will surely do their best to win over fans who felt burned by their actions last year. Microsoft and Sony could also use the clean slate after botched launches of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and DriveClub.
New developers are out to create something new and exciting to ring in 2015. A change in year can easily be overlooked as time presses on, but time will show that sometimes it can do wonders.
Nintendo as Always
You don’t have to have been a lifelong fan to realize just how beneficial to gaming Nintendo truly is. They are one company who tries their best to have the best interests of loyal gamers at the forefront of every single thing they do. For those who doubted them after a few stumbles 2014 showed just how great they can be once they hunker down and focus. While many try to convince you of the importance of resolutions and season passes the folks over at Nintendo are there to remind you of just why you all became gamers in the first place.
Xenoblade Chronicles X, The Legend of Zelda for Wii U, Mario Maker and Splatoon are just a few examples of how Nintendo is committed to providing memorable experiences for gamers all over in this new year. You can rest assured that if all else fails Nintendo will have a wonderful memory in store for you. It’s easy to be pessimistic, but having one of the biggest gaming companies focused on providing nothing but the best should give you a bit of faith that 2014 will truly be a great year.
If you’d like to get a look at what they have in store for you in the coming months check out the release calendar on the official Nintendo site.
Potential Unleashed
The end of 2013 brought the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. 2014 showed these newly released machines making headlines as they battled to get into your homes and prove which was truly the best box. The thing is that they attempted to do so without really showing anything too impressive. Sure there were some good games released in the past 14 months but none really showcased the true capabilities of either of the new home consoles.
But, that is all about to change this year. For those of you gamers who may have been living under a rock you would probably like to know that PlayStation, and Xbox have announced that their heavy hitters are slated for 2015 releases. Uncharted 4 and Halo 5: Guardians along with a slew of other exclusive titles will find there way to a retailer near you within the next 12 months. Those announcements on their own are enough to start shaking with excitement even before you realize that this may mean seeing some of the power of the two consoles really put to the test.
A quick look at the Uncharted 4 gameplay trailer unveiled at the PlayStation Experience even last month will show you that it aims to be one of the best looking games ever to be seen on consoles. Halo 5 will definitely show off the horsepower of the Xbox One as well as once again show how online multiplayer is done. Developers have had a lot of time to tinker with these boxes so this 2015 will finally make clear why you dove in and picked up these machines.
Events for Gamers
The Nintendo Direct series of videos has proven to be an amazing way for a huge corporation to reach out to the millions of fans. Being given information and early sneak peeks at the games you’ve been looking forward to just makes everyone a bit happier. Sony caught on and created their own event called the PlayStation Experience and, surprising to no one at all, it was a huge success leaving hope of yet another one.
After the PlayStation Experience fans reached out to find out if the Xbox would get one of their own and even Phil Spencer said it may be a good idea. Â These events are fully focused on the gamers that helped the companies rise and allow access to unreleased games, chances to meet their favorite devs and actors and other cool things. It’s really great to see companies finally realize that gamers are their bread and butter, and make efforts to court them for their support.
This is all on top of the events you’ve already come to know and love. Events such as E3, Gamescom, and TGS are still there for everyone to get some awesome news from. Blizzcon and others of that nature will continue to exist only for fans. Think of the new platform-centric events as a cherry on top that puts you at the very center of everything.
Having all three of the big console makers vying for your attention with amazing inside access can only lead to good things. With the evolution of how the industry treats its customers, 2015 is shaping up to be truly memorable.
Tech Tech Tech
Over the past few years there have been large pushes to add new ways for gamers to interact with their favorite games. From ways to put your entire body into the game to virtual reality headsets every company seems to be trying to get in on the action. Some of you may be sitting down right now thinking “but I don’t need/want any of that” and you’re well within your right to think so, but the advancement of technology is one of the things that keeps gaming so fresh.
There are many out there right now who can’t wait to get their hands on Sony’s Project Morpheus or to just find out what exactly Microsoft is working on behind closed doors. While we’re here, what is going on with Steam Machine? When will gamers finally be able to get their hands on these and many other cool new gadgets. 2015 is rumored to hold the answers to many of these questions as new technology finally steps out of the shadows.
While games are super important it’s almost impossible to not get excited by new tech and 2015 is ready with a new bag of secret goodies.
Remember Those Games That Should Have Come Last Year?
2014 was supposed to be the year that put all other years to shame. The game lineup was absolutely incredible and previews showed experiences that gamers had only dreamed of before. Unfortunately the games themselves had a different idea and just weren’t ready to be released to the public and were subsequently delayed. Fortunately enough those games that slipped out of the schedule found themselves receiving new dates in, you guessed it, 2015.
So all of those games that had you drooling and shelling out your hard earned cash for a new gaming machine are finally coming out. Looking forward to Batman: Arkham Knight? What about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt? Well they are being released in the coming months along with tons of brand new and unannounced titles. One thing that last year lacked were those huge titles but this year has them in spades.
Are there any things in the gaming world that have you excited for 2015? If so feel free to share.
