Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Gets a Release Date as Pre-Orders Go Live

Ret-2-go, Shantae!
This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Way back in September 2013 WayForward Games created a Kickstarter campaign to continue their iconic Shantae series on home consoles, in glorious high definition. The projected release date for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, according to the Kickstarter page, was a year after the end of the campaign, in October 2014. Due to the success of the campaign, however, the game was delayed so as to fulfill all the stretch goal content before release.

At long last, the latest Shantae adventure has its home console release date. WayForward announced on Twitter yesterday that the game is up for pre-order at Game Stop for the Wii U, PlayStation 4, and PS Vita, with the accompanying release date of Sep. 27, 2016.

Unlike other Kickstarted titles that have suffered from lengthy delays, Half-Genie Hero is still highly anticipated by fans, as WayForward has been pretty forthcoming with updates throughout development. It also helps that the gap was bridged with the 2014 3DS release of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, which has since also come to Wii U, Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
