How to Beat Guardians Easily – Zelda Breath of the Wild

Alongside the Bokoblin, Lizalfos, and Moblin roaming around the world in Zelda Breath of the Wild, you may have also noticed the giant ancient machines known as Guardians. Guardians are incredibly powerful enemies thanks to their large pools of health, and incredibly powerful laser beam attack. While they may seem impossible to take down, they’re a lot easier if you’ve got the right equipment and know the correct method.

The trick to beating Guardians in Breath of the Wild is to use their own weapon against them. That laser can actually be reflected right back at them and will deal heavy damage if you succeed in doing so. However, in order to do this, you’ll need to get your hands on a Guardian Shield. If you’re struggling to get your hands on one of these, you’ll want to try completing a few more of Breath of the Wild’s Shrines and making an effort to also grab the treasure chests that hide within.

Once you’ve got the Guardian Shield, you’re ready to take on the Guardians. As soon as you see the Guardian lighting up and firing its laser attack, press A to use your Guardian Shield to deflect the beam right back. This will deal significant damage and, if you time it perfectly, will do no damage to the shield either. By rinse repeating this method, you can defeat Guardians pretty easily in Breath of the Wild, just make sure you nail the timing when you press A, otherwise Link will likely be turned to toast.

If you’re without a Guardian Shield, you’ll at least need a horse and a good amount of arrows. Shock arrows can help deal additional damage to the Guardians, too. Simply ride around the area on your horse and ensure you’re keeping your distance from the Guardian. If you manage to hit it in the eye with an arrow, you’ll stun it, giving you time to deal some heavy melee attacks on it.

Another method is to upgrade your Stasis Rune (you’ll need to give three Ancient Cores to Purah). This will allow you to freeze enemies for just a few seconds, but your damage will be magnified. Sneak up as close as you can, use stasis, than pull off as many attacks as possible before it expires. You’ll take off a ton of the Guardian’s health. You can rinse and repeat until it’s dead.

If you’re still struggling with this, you’ll want to make your way to the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab in the northeast corner of the map. Here, you’ll be able to trade ancient parts for powerful ancient weapons capable or dealing more damage to Guardians than standard weaponry.

That’s all there is to beating Guardians easily in Breath of the Wild. Be sure to take a look at our ever-expanding wiki guide for more tips, help, and information on the game.
