Encountering a Divine Beast

One of the best things about Breath of the Wild is how open the setting is for exploration. While there are parameters and guidelines in place to help guide you on where to go, the world is your oyster when it comes to how you choose to explore it. 

Regardless of the path you choose, be it linear or non-linear, you’ll always run into one of the four Divine Beasts: Vah Ruta, Vah Medoh, Vah Rudania, and Vah Naboris. These creatures tower above you, putting in perspective just how small Link is and the overall scope of Breath of the Wild as a whole. 

And while every single encounter with one of these majestical beings is noteworthy in-and-of-itself, nothing beats the first time you find and explore one of them inside and out. 

Lost Woods

It wouldn’t be a Legend of Zelda game if you didn’t have to navigate your way through the maze-like architecture that makes up the confusing forest that is the Lost Woods. 

I still remember my first time gliding into the forest in Breath of the Wild and things eventually getting foggy and creepy. While I totally got lost, solving the puzzles that occurred throughout this area was satisfying and fun, especially thanks to the moment and reward that come alongside them. 

Whether you find the Great Deku tree or finally get your hands on The Master Sword, the Lost Woods features more than one breathtaking moment you’d be remiss not to experience yourself. 

Taming the Lord of the Mountain

Some people are fine with just any horse in Breath of the Wild. As long as your mount takes you from point A to B faster than it would if you were walking, then who cares what it looks like, right?. Wrong.

Anyone who didn’t go out of their way to find and tame the Lord of the Mountain is missing out on one of the most breathtaking creatures in gaming. The trek up Satori Mountain alone is enough to take your breath away, featuring a beautiful view of the vista as you make your way up. 

The best part comes when you eventually find your way into a clearing filled with glowing, beautiful horse-like creatures that seem ripped straight out of a fairytale. 

Once you do eventually tame the Lord of the Mountain, your rewards aren’t merely just aesthetical either, as this mount is the fastest animal in the game and has infinite stamina. 

The Final Memory

While it isn’t necessary to complete the game, any die-hard Breath of the Wild fan can tell you that finding all of the Captured Memories is beyond a requirement. It also results in arguably the most heartwarming moment in the game. 

After you visit the 12 various locations and view each memory, there is a secret one that unlocks, known as the Final Memory, located near Dueling Peaks.

In this flashback video, we see Zelda and Link’s final moments from 100 years ago, with Zelda using her power to save them both while also ordering that Link be taken to the Shrine of Resurrection. 

It’s a moment where you see not only the power and resolve of the two but also the events that led to the starting point of Breath of the Wild.
