How to Get an Axe – Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild isn’t the first game in the series to feature weapons other than the old Master Sword, but it is the first to make them so prominent in gameplay and the world. One such alternative weapon is the woodcutter’s axe, used to cut down trees and gather resources. We’ll walk you through how to get an axe in Breath of the Wild, so you can get right down to razing the land.

There isn’t one definite place to find yourself an axe out in the world. They are most often found lying about near or in trees. Have a look around a wooded area, and you’re sure to find what you need.

You can equip this weapon and use it against enemies, though this is a fairly useless strategy. It’s incredibly heavy as well as slow, meaning you should only really bust it out for construction projects. To fell trees with your new axe, simply equip it and swing it at some wood in the area.

Now that you know how to get an axe, stay tuned to Twinfinite for more Zelda: Breath of the Wild tips, guides, and walkthroughs.
