ADVENT Blacksite Mission – XCOM 2

Recommended Videos

XCOM 2 will have you going through numerous missions that entail you doing anything from eliminating enemies, to rescuing hostages, to collecting something. ADVENT Blacksite is one of the first missions you’ll receive and it primarily consists of collecting a vial from the battlefield. Every time you do this mission anew, it will be randomized and different, but the objective remains the same: Collect the vial and get the hell out of there.

As you’re just starting out, the mission can be quite a handful. It’s even rated as Difficult in the menu selection so you know you’re going to have a challenge. The number one thing you need to keep in mind before you tackle it (besides saving your progress if you want to reload and try again without losing soldiers or time) is to have your soldiers be promoted at least once. Having a team with Rangers, Grenadiers, and Sharpshooters is ideal. Whatever combination you choose, just make sure your squad isn’t full of Rookies.

Once you have that, make sure to move towards the vial while taking out as many enemies as you can. Don’t just run for the objective, proceed slowly. Set up your squad in a good, flanking position before being spotted and ending your concealment. You’re going to want to definitely target Sectoids first.

Continue clearing out aliens and move all your troops close to the vial. Once every enemy unit is taken care of, then send someone to pick up the vial. Right when you do, enemy reinforcements will come in. Now it’s okay to run to the evacuation and ignore the aliens. If you can pick some off, go for it, but they won’t stop coming so get out of there as soon as you can, prioritizing the vial carrier for evacuation.
