This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the final farewell to some of the most iconic characters in gaming. We’ll have to continue living our lives without Nathan Drake, Elena Fisher, and Victor Sullivan. However, it might be the final entry into the beloved PlayStation series, but it’s not without its tricks. That’s right, on its way out, Uncharted as decided to introduce some all-new mechanics to players. You’re now able to start up random conversations with NPCs in the game, as though this were a JRPG. There are a bunch of different ones that you can have, and they can happen when you would least expect them to. Luckily, we have you covered.

Here are all of the optional dialogue conversations you can trigger and where to get them. Keep your eyes peeled for when it looks like a conversation can take place, because this makes it all a lot easier.

There are 35 conversations in total, and they don’t occur in every single chapter, making them easy to miss. This guide will detail the Chapter location and trigger of each one in chronological order so you can follow along easily.

Chapter 3: The Malaysia Job

Optional Dialogue 1 – After surfacing with the trailer, hop off and talk to the worker that is standing next to the torn up trailer.

Optional Dialogue 2 – You’ll have to be fast for this one. Right where you jump off of the trailer, there is a short flight of stairs ahead of you. Head up and talk to your friend. If he moves, the opportunity is lost.

Chapter 6: Once a Thief…

Optional Dialogue 3 – While playing through the chapter, Nate and Sam will drop down into a grove behind the manor. Follow Sam and you’ll have an opportunity to talk to him near some boxes of lemons.

Optional Dialogue 4 – After rappelling down with your brother, he will stop to examine the view from the cliff. This is the opportunity for another conversation.

Optional Dialogue 5 – When inside the manor, you’ll be tasked with following Sully. Instead of following him immediately, step out onto the balcony and chat with Sam first.

Chapter 8: The Grave of Henry Avery

Optional Dialogue 6 – After coming across the three crucifix statues in the tomb, talk to Sam (this is also a Journal Entry).

Optional Dialogue 7 – After completing the puzzle that used those same three statues, talk to Sam again.

Chapter 9: Those Who Prove Worthy

Optional Dialogue 8 – Once the puzzle with the crucifixes and bucket of water is complete proceed through the door and follow Sam up the cliff. While making your way up you’ll get the prompt to chat with him.

Chapter 10: The Twelve Towers

Optional Dialogue 9 – After obtaining the signal tower Journal Entry (the last in the chapter), talk to Sam about it.

Optional Dialogue  10 – Once your conversation with Sam is complete, go and talk to Sully about the same thing.

Chapter 11: Hidden in Plain Sight

Optional Dialogue 11 – While you move through the market, take your time to play with the Lemur. This will cause Sully to trigger one of the Optional Dialogue conversations in Uncharted 4.

Chapter 12: At Sea

Optional Dialogue 12 – This one is grabbed right after you find Sam (after the point he had gone missing). When you find him he will wait a few seconds then walk to a cliff to get a view (he likes doing this it seems). Once at the cliff you will have the prompt for this optional dialogue.

Optional Dialogue 13 – Take your time to explore both the planning room and provision’s room. After a bit Sam will ask Nate a question. Interact with him to continue the dialogue.

Chapter 14: Join Me in Paradise

Optional Dialogue 14 – At the very beginning of the chapter you and Sam will jump down from a ledge. Talk with Sam after you land.

Optional Dialogue 15 – When you reach the second floor of the tavern, head towards the chairs.

Optional Dialogue 16 – Head inside of the Blacksmith’s shop and locate the cutlass (curved sword). Interact with it and you and Sam will start a conversation.

Optional Dialogue 17 – Across from the Blacksmith is a barn. Head into the barn and examine the horse bones inside to trigger a conversation and obtain a Journal Entry.

Optional Dialogue 18 – Head to Avery’s Statue in the market. There are stocks nearby that Sam will pose in granting you an Optional Dialogue opportunity as well as another Journal Entry.

Optional Dialogue 19 – Continue through the chapter until you reach the area where the settlers and pirates battled. Sam will comment on a body in the water. After he does, interact with him to continue the conversation and nab your nineteenth Uncharted 4 dialogue collectible.

Chapter 15: The Thieves of Libertalia

Optional Dialogue 20 – As you progress through the chapter you’ll come across a large room. At the back of the room are a bunch of skeletons. Before exploring the room head straight to the back to trigger a conversation. If you don’t you’ll lose the opportunity.

Optional Dialogue 21 – This one is actually story related. After fully exploring that same room where you got the last collectible, Sam will call you over and talk to you. We’re not sure why it’s called optional since it can’t be missed, but there it is for you.

Chapter 16: The Brothers Drake

Optional Dialogue 22 – Find the children’s room and look on the desk for a note. Talk to Sam after picking it up.

Optional Dialogue 23 – When in the greenhouse, pick up the pirate history book, then talk to Sam.

Optional Dialogue 24 – After Optional Dialogue 23, talk to Sam again to ask a new question.

Chapter 17: For Better or Worse

Optional Dialogue 25 – At the beginning of the chapter, help Elena reach the top of the ladder then talk to her.

Optional Dialogue 26 – Once done with the last conversation, talk to Elena again.

Optional Dialogue 27 – When you first reach the pirate elevator, Nate and Elena will talk about locations they’ve been to.

Optional Dialogue 28 – After talking about places around the world, trigger a new conversation with Elena immediately after.

Optional Dialogue 29 – Continue through the chapter until both Elena and Nate are on an large elevator with a Jeep. Elena will comment on the view, triggering a conversation.

Optional Dialogue 30 – After the discussion about the view, you can interact with Elena for the final conversation of the chapter.

Chapter 18: New Devon

Optional Dialogue 31 – Once the chapter starts, head to the left of the gate.

Optional Dialogue 32 – When in the swamp area (you’ll know when you’re there), walk by the large gate to have Elena examine and read the words above a nearby door.

Optional Dialogue 33 – Continue on through the chapter and you’ll encounter the skeleton of a woman hanging. Pick up the note near the corpse and Elena will comment on it.

Optional Dialogue 34 – After the segment where you slide out of a house and into a large body of water, you can talk to Elena as you both swim around.

Optional Dialogue 35 – The final Optional Dialogue Conversation is found in Avery’s entertainment room. Once you walk in, Elena will start talking. Interact with her to finish off the list.

After grabbing the final one your Gift of Gab Trophy should pop. Congratulations, you’ve completed another checklist in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
