Fast Travel in Super Mario Odyssey

Recommended Videos

Every Kingdom you visit in Super Mario Odyssey is incredibly dense, full of things to see and areas to explore. As you unlock more areas to visit in a Kingdom, you’ll find that traveling from one place to another can take you a little bit of time. Fortunately, there is a fast travel system in place.

First off, you need to activate checkpoints, which will then serve as your fast travel point. Checkpoints are activated by throwing Cappy at the black flags with Bowser’s face on them. The flag will turn red after you interact with it, indicating that it can now be used as a checkpoint. Within a Kingdom, you’ll be able to quickly warp to any of your activated checkpoints. Bring up the Kingdom map with the – button on the Switch, pick the checkpoint you want to go to, then select it. It’s that simple.

You can also revisit other Kingdoms that you’ve already been to. To do this, throw Cappy at the globe outside the Odyssey airship, and you’ll go back to the galaxy map where you can select previous Kingdoms.
