How to Fast Travel in Stardew Valley

The Horse in Stardew Valley isn’t just a cutie to have around your farm, it’s also very useful in that you can move around way faster than you normally would. Hate running all over the place? Obviously you do, otherwise you wouldn’t have looked up how to fast travel in Stardew Valley. While it’s awesome that the map isn’t that small, it can be a bit of a pain. The horse alleviates this by making you even faster in your running around.

In order to get one, all you have to do is buy the Stable from Robin. A horse comes with it, which is good considering the hefty price of the stable. Oh, and don’t worry about leaving it hanging around as you wandered off adventuring. It knows how to get back home.

Warp Totems

How to Fast Travel in Stardew Valley

Ever wonder what those weird statues strewn about Pelican Town in Stardew Valley are? Well, they’re warp locations! You can fast travel to any of the three statues using Warp Totems. These can be earned or crafted and each one has a different location to warp to.

  • Warp Totem: Beach – Requires Foraging Level 6. Costs Hardwood, Coral (2), and Fiber (10). Five of these totems can be obtained from completing the Ocean Fish Bundle in the Community Center.
  • Warp Totem: Mountains – Requires Foraging Level 7. Costs Hardwood, Iron Bar, and Stone (20)
  • Warp Totem: Farm – Requires Foraging Level 8. Costs Hardwood, Honey, and Fiber (20)

The totems are single use only, so you’ll have to keep crafting them with the same recipe if you want to keep stacks of them.

Minecarts

You may have noticed some abandoned minecarts around different areas, namely the bus station, mines and Blacksmith. These are seemingly out of order whenever you try to use them and it’s a shame because they’d be very useful for fast travel. Unfortunately it’s not that easy to get them up and running. In order to do so, you’ll need to complete the Boiler Room bundle from the Community Center.

  • Blacksmith’s Bundle – Copper Bar, Iron Bar, Gold Bar.
  • Geologists’s Bundle – Quartz, Earth Crystal, Frozen Tear, Fire Quartz.
  • Adventurer’s Bundle (Any 2) – Slime (99), Bat Wing (10), Solar Essence, Void Essence.

Once you do, though, fast travel between those three spots has never been easier.

Mods

And the final way to get around faster in Stardew Valley (so far) is through the use of mods, of course. Now, they’re not exactly how the developer intended the game to be (so far), but the community of modders is awesome and is improving upon an already great game every day. There’s this very convenient one that allows you to set up waypoints as you please to get around easily. Check out our list of the best Stardew Valley mods for more information.
