Using Your Special Weapon Ability in Splatoon 2

Recommended Videos

Every weapon in Splatoon 2 comes with a special ability. If you use them right, you could even turn the tide of a match and win the game for your team. Before entering a match, make sure to check your weapon’s special ability, and familiarize yourself with it.

First off, you’ll need to charge the meter on the top right corner of the screen before you can use it. Most abilities only require 180p to charge fully, and you can achieve this number easily simply by splattering ink all over the ground, or by taking out enemies. The meter also charges slowly over time, so you should be able to fill it up relatively quickly. However, do note that you’ll lose about a quarter of your charge if you get splatted, so be careful.

Once the meter is charged up, press in the right analog stick and you’ll trigger the special ability. The ability will last as long as your meter still contains charge, and once it’s fully depleted, you’ll be back to your normal inkling self.

More About Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 is the follow-up to Splatoon, the inky shooter game released on the Wii U two years ago. Take control of a kid, splat your enemies with ink, and transform into a squid whenever you feel like it.
