This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

How to Use the Windmill in Spiritfarer

Obtained by purchasing the Craftsman upgrade for your ship’s Blueprint Stand from Albert, Spiritfarer’s Windmill is a vital piece of equipment.

By placing grains in the compartment at its mid-level by pressing Square on PlayStation 4 the X Button on Xbox One or the Y Button on the Nintendo Switch, you can grind said grains down into flours. These flours are necessary to make a variety of dishes, many of which will help you boost your Spirits’ moods and progress their questlines.

However, like with smelting metals or cutting wood, there’s a bit more player interaction required than you’d guess at first glance. After placing grains into the mid-level compartment, you’ll need to head up to the top of the Windmill and interact with the central column.

This will allow you to adjust the leveling of the windmill, shown as a square you can move up and down with the D-Pad, with a smaller wheel to your right. So long as the wheel to the right is spinning, the mill will continue to grind the grains you’ve placed into powder, and you’ll automatically be unassigned from the column once all of the grains have been ground down.

That’s all there is to it really. It can feel a bit odd at first, but once you’ve got the controls down you’ll be stocking up more flour than you know what to do with.

Hopefully this cleared up how to use the Windmill in Spiritfarer. For more on the game, check out some of our other guides on hot topics like how to get Nebula Thread and how to get Spirit Flowers.
