What Spirits Max Level Cap Is in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

There are a looooot of spirits in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate —over 1000 in fact. But collecting them isn’t all they are good for; spirits can also be equipped to characters in certain modes to make them more powerful. Spirits’ benefits can be improved greater by leveling them up. Here is what the spirits’ max level cap is in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Spirits are a big new part of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so much so that they take up their own space on the game’s main menu. Whether you’re playing the World of Light Adventure Mode or just clearing challenges in the game’s other modes, you’re going to be earning spirits left, right, and center.

While earning spirits, you’re going to want to be leveling them up to make your chances of winning higher throughout the Spirits modes.

Every spirit in Smash Bros. Ultimate starts at level one and can be raised up to a max level of 99. However, for certain spirits, that’s not where it ends. There are a select few spirits that can be even further enhanced when they reach level 99 and can transform into even stronger spirits.

For example, the Groudon spirit can transform into Primal Groudon after attaining level 99.

It’s a process of evolution not unlike that of Pokemon. However, unlike Pokemon, the newly-evolved spirit is reduced back to level one. They can then be once again raised back up to level 99.

Once a spirit transforms into a new spirit, not only will their stats be increased, but they can also learn a new ability.

How to Level Up Spirits

As you’d expect, spirits will gain experience points when they are used in a match. Even if the match results in a loss, as long as the spirit is equipped, it will receive some experience points. The spirit will usually gain around half a level to one level per battle.

There are other methods of increasing spirits’ levels other than just battling. One such method is by feeding them snacks. Snacks come in several shapes and sizes; the larger the snack, the more experience points they will yield.

Snacks can be earned as rewards on the Spirit Board, by finding chests in Adventure Mode, purchased with SP in shops in Adventure Mode, or purchased with Gold in the shop located under the Games & More menu.

So, that’s what the spirits’ max level cap is in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and a couple of ways that you can raise your spirits’ levels. For more on the game, be sure to check out our guide wiki.
