The Sims 4 Parenthood: How to Raise and Lower Emotional Control Easily

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

The Sims 4: Parenthood introduces some wonderful traits that your sims can get when they become a Young Adult. The caveat being that you need to max out (either negatively or positively) five new Character Values while your sim is a toddler, child, or teen. Maxing out Emotional Control positively will lead to the Emotional Control trait, while negatively maxing it out leads to Uncontrolled Emotions.

Raising Emotional Control

Here are ways that you can raise your sim’s emotional control:

  • Writing in Journal
  • Wind down with a radio or instrument
  • Jog
  • Selecting certain Teachable Moments options
  • Selecting certain options during Volunteering or School opportunities

Emotional control is easiest to raise by writing in a journal over and over and winding down with instruments or the radio.

Lowering Emotional Control

Lowering your sim’s emotional control is fairly easy, too:

  • Have a tantrum or emotional breakdown
  • Shove
  • Bite
  • Destroy dollhouses or School Projects
  • Selecting certain Teachable Moments options
  • Selecting certain options during Volunteering or School opportunities

The easiest of these is to shove and bite over and over, as well as destroying dollhouses only to do it again when it’s built back up.
