How to Use Analogue Lips in Sakura Wars

To make a long story short, Sakura Wars’ Analogue Lips system is a twist on the usual visual novel choices you can make throughout the rest of the game.

Instead of tilting the analogue stick left, right or up to select a dialogue option, you’re tasked with tilting and holding the stick up or down to fill a semi-circle gauge. Once the gauge is filled to the degree of energy you want your character putting into their response, you’ll need to press the X button for a more intense or reserved response to questions or problems respectively.

For example, if you’re tasked with issuing a final order to your team before combat starts, you can choose to tilt the stick all the way up for a passionate battle cry; or, if you think a more tempered response is in order, you can tilt the stick down to more calmly issue a detailed order.

How to Check Dialogue Options in Analogue Lips

Responses given through the Analogue Lips system in Sakura Wars tend to net you more Trust with characters than other questions as well, so it’s important to gauge which response is best before deciding which approach to take.

This is done by tilting the left analogue stick up or down without pressing the X button. Doing so will reveal different dialogue lines that will hint at what will be said, and can help you guess how it might come off to other characters.

As a rule of thumb, though, it’s best to also pay attention to the context of the scene where Analogue Lips appears. More often than not, characters will mention whether you need to give a more passionate or reserved approach.

Even if they don’t, the mechanic will usually trigger in situations where playing along with the intensity or solemn tone of the scene will work out in your favor.

That’s all there is to know about how to use the Analogue Lips mechanics in Sakura Wars. For more on the game, check out some of its trailers covering the demonic antagonists and the artists behind the character designs.
