How to Get Rid of Your Bounty in Red Dead Redemption 2

In Red Dead Redemption 2, lawmen will put a price on Arthur’s head if he gets caught doing enough bad deeds. Dealing with bounty hunters is a difficult task and can quickly result in your character’s demise.

Thankfully, there are a number of ways you can get rid of your bounty in Red Dead Redemption 2.

  • Paying the full price of your bounty is the fastest and most convenient way to get off the hook. To do this, go to town and speak to the postman. They are marked by an envelope icon on the map, and are normally found near the many train stations in the game.
  • If you wish to spend less cash to remove your wanted level, you can opt to spend some jail time. Simply commit a crime where you are wanted and surrender to the lawmen by holding the L2 / LB button while looking at the lawmen and pressing triangle or Y.

What Gives You a Bounty in Red Dead Redemption 2

Generally speaking, doing anything bad will put a price on your head, regardless if it’s a petty crime or a heinous one. After all, a crime is a crime. Having fistfights with witnesses nearby, killing, robbing, and illegally boarding trains are some of the ways you can get a bounty on your head.

Unlike in Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series, committing a crime will not automatically make Arthur a wanted man. Just like in real life, you actually need to get caught and identified by the authorities beforehand.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has several options to help players avoid getting a price on their head. They can stealthily perform their crimes, diffuse situations through smart conversations, or silence witnesses by beating them up or ending their life.

How to Deal With Bounty Hunters

Bounty hunters will come after Arthur once his bounty gets high enough. Bounty hunters are quite tough to beat in combat. They will also relentlessly chase Arthur, even if you’re riding a train.

Basically, bounty hunters will chase you in the area where you have a bounty on your head. This is indicated by the red-marked areas of the map.

You can choose to engage the hunters in combat if you’re looking for a tough challenge. However, it would be best to simply pay the price on your head if you wish to be rid of the hassles of being chased from time to time.

That’s how you can get rid of your bounty and claim one for yourself in Red Dead Redemption 2. Be sure to check our Red Dead Redemption 2 wiki or search for Twinfinite if you are looking for more useful tips and guides.
