PUBG Mobile: What the Best Weapons Are

Recommended Videos

In a genuinely surprising turn of events, you can now play PUBG, in full, on your mobile phone. And while it would be easy to get bogged down on exactly how the team managed to squeeze the iconic battle royale experience onto such humble devices, we’re more concerned with killing every other player in sight. To do this, we need weapons. There are a variety of them in PUBG Mobile, with slightly different specs to those in the full game, meaning that your PC loadout of choice may not quite apply here.

To help you get fat on chicken dinners, we’ve broken down the best weapons available in the game. Each weapon listed is the best in its respective category, but of course, this is not by any means a definitive list. The choices made below are based on our experience with PUBG Mobile, and are informed as such. We’ve left out pistols due to the fact that they quickly become irrelevant after the first few minutes of the game, as well as melee weapons, largely for the same reasons. Without further ado, let’s dive in. Here are the best weapons you can get in PUBG Mobile.

Here are the best guns in PUBG by category:

Assault Rifle (AR)

The Best Weapons in PUBG Mobile

M416 – While the PC experience warrants a more long-ranged play style, the mobile version sets its sights on a generally closer, more action-packed affair, especially early on. The controls are not as precise, so long-range kills are a lot harder to pull off. As a result, you’re going to want something that is versatile, able to dominate at mid range and extend further in a pinch. The M416 is definitely the way to go for this, especially when you start adding attachments into the mix. At full build, the M416 is an all-round powerhouse which will see you through to the final 10 with ease.

You’ll want to pair it with a shotgun or high-firing SMG to cover all of your bases, but it can be used close-range if needed. The M416 is also one of the most common weapons in the game, making it easy to get and upgrade early on. PUBG Mobile definitely encourages a more aggressive play style over the methodical stealth feel that the PC game cultivates. The M416 is the perfect weapon for this, excelling in urban shootouts and final-circle firefights.

Sub Machine Gun (SMG)

The Best Weapons in PUBG Mobile

Vector – PUBG Mobile more than its namesake, can be played up close and personal. Provided you’ve landed in a good spot and can hunker down, the SMG is a great option for those looking to flank, rush and overwhelm their opponents. And while options like the UMP offer more versatility, in terms of pure spray and pray joy, it’s the Vector that you’re going to want to pick up. Due to the controls of PUBG Mobile being pretty tricky to get the hang of, it’s a good tactic to rely on sheer volume of bullets fired.

So much of the game, especially early on, consists of players firing in the general direction of an enemy hoping to get a hit, something which becomes frustrating if you are holding an assault rifle or DMR. Coupled with the aim-assist function, as well as a couple of attachments, the Vector becomes an absolute powerhouse. The recoil can be a little unruly, but get enough ground on someone before firing and you’ll be good to go.

Shotgun

The Best Weapons in PUBG Mobile

S12K – When used correctly, shotguns can be some of the most useful weapons in PUBG Mobile. This is because of the very special state that most players find themselves in while playing, a state of fear, panic and frustration that can be exploited. The inaccurate control scheme the game unfortunately presents doesn’t exactly lend itself to calm and collected fire fights. As a result, it’s very easy to strafe and dodge shots, all the while closing in to use a shotgun to gain the kill. Rushing at an enemy in PUBG Mobile seems to be a very viable tactic, given how flustered it seems to make other players. The S12K is absolutely the weapon for this particularly aggressive style of play, able to fire rounds off at an impressive rate.

With the extended magazine attachment in play, the S12K becomes a semi-automatic killing machine, one which operates at surprising range. It’s perfect for rushing houses, scouring urban areas and is very forgiving in terms of accuracy. Hell, even if you miss your first shot there’s another one close behind, eliminating the need to worry about aiming precisely with the finicky touch controls.

Sniper Rifle

The Best Weapons in PUBG Mobile

AWM – You’ve got to be seriously skilled to master sniping in PUBG Mobile. A lower draw distance means that picking players off from afar is a lot harder, and the touch controls don’t exactly warrant finesse. With this in mind, you’re going to want to make every shot count. Enter the AWM. This beast of a sniper rifle packs a serious punch, more so than any other weapon in the game. You can one-shot a player in almost every circumstance so if it’s long-range damage you’re after, you can’t really do better.

And while other sniper rifles boast a higher fire rate, it is hard to land one shot let alone two, meaning you should favor damage instead. The AWM also boasts huge body hit impact power, meaning that it knocks players to one side, and they’ll lose their shot if they have managed to get you their sights. The zero range is at the higher limits, meaning that the damage is easily translated across large distances. There’s very little bullet drop too, so it’s your best shot at taking out a foe at considerable distance. The AWM uses the 300 Magnum ammo, and is pretty uncommon, but find it and you’re at a significant advantage.

Designated Marksman Rifle

The Best Weapons in PUBG Mobile

SKS – If you like the range of an assault rifle, and the stopping power of a high caliber sniper rifle, the DMR weapons are for you. They offer high damage at a high rate of fire, making them the weapon of choice for more experienced players. You’ll have to be a little more accurate with them, but land your shot and you’ll dispatch enemies with ease. The best for PUBG Mobile is the SKS, due to its higher rate of fire and great body hit impact power.

The only downside is the low magazine count, but pick up an extension and you’re golden. The SKS seems to be the most common of its class, meaning that you’ll get plenty of practice with it. Definitely not for beginners, but versatile enough to at least be worth giving a shot, the SKS can be an unstoppable force when used correctly.
