Pokemon Sun and Moon Post-Game: 5 Things to Do After Beating the Game

There's still a lot left to do.
This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Catch the Ultra Beasts

Once you complete the story in Pokemon Sun and Moon, leave your house, and an NPC will approach you. He tells you to meet him at the motel on Route 8. Doing so will initiate the Ultra Beasts quest line, where you aid the International Police in tracking down these powerful beings and capturing them. It’s essentially a hunt for legendary Pokemon, and if you do manage to catch these Ultra Beasts, you’ll be able to use them in battle.

Following the quest line all the way to the end will also give you some closure to the main story, and lets you find out more about the Aether Foundation itself.

Visit the Battle Tree

I recommend doing this only after you’ve beaten the game and have trained up some Pokemon with decent IVs. The Battle Tree can be found on Poni Island, and it’s essentially a gathering of strong trainers who have completed their island challenge, or are at least powerful enough to do so. It’s also where you can meet Red and Blue, the original protagonist and rival from, well, Pokemon Red and Blue.

Beware, however, as you’ll have to battle your way through a series of really tough trainers without dying. This is where you can also fight it out with familiar faces from past games, as well as NPCs in Sun and Moon. Players can also scout out trainers and get them to join you as allies in multi-battles.

Try Your Hand at the Battle Royal

The Battle Royal is a new feature introduced in Pokemon Sun and Moon, and it’s a cool free-for-all type deal where four trainers fight it out against each other. The goal here is to be the last trainer standing, and you’ll have to try to knock out the rest of the competitors before they start gunning for you.

You can gain ranks by participating in the Battle Royal, and this activity will also allow you to earn Battle Points, which can be used to buy valuable items for your Pokemon.

Collect Zygarde Cells and Cores

Zygarde is one of the legendary Pokemon you can catch in Sun and Moon. However, instead of tracking down the Pokemon itself, you’ll have to reassemble it by looking for all of its Cells and Cores. There is a total of 100 Cells scattered around the Alola region, and you’ll need them to assemble the Pokemon. Collecting 10 of them will give you Zygarde’s 10% Forme, 50 will give you the 50% Forme, and 100 will give you the complete Forme.

There are also 10 Zygarde Cores to be found in Alola, and these will let you teach the Pokemon new moves. It’s a tough scavenger hunt, for sure, but the reward is well worth the work and effort involved.

Fight the Elite Four

Now that you’re the Alolan Pokemon League Champion, people are going to want to fight you for a shot at earning your title. You can head back to the Pokemon League and fight the Elite Four over and over again, and this will give you more money and experience.

For the fifth battle, you won’t be facing off against Professor Kukui anymore. Instead, a random challenger will approach you and ask for a fight. There’s a good number of Champion challengers, and they’ll all be bringing their best team setups, so don’t underestimate them.
