How to Save in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is the sequel to the hit iso-RPG from Obsidian Entertainment released back in 2015. Like the original, PoE 2: Deadfire is a massive game filled with content that’ll keep you busy for hours upon hours. In the main quest, you’ll live out a life on the high seas while pursuing the god Eothas and discovering its intentions. If that doesn’t sound good to you, you can just be a pirate that is pretty much a jerk to everyone if you prefer.
Pillars of Eternity 2 can be challenging and time consuming at certain points, and the last thing you want is for you to die after having not saved for a while. There are a lot of surprises in this game, some of them unpleasant, which could lead to an unplanned death. Losing your progress in a game like can be super demoralizing. I can attest that I suffered a few untimely deaths myself, and they definitely suck.
So, if you’re smart, you’re going to want to manually save quite often anytime before you venture out into the unknown. To save in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, all you need to do is enter the main menu. This is done by pressing Escape. There, smack in the middle of the screen, you’ll see options for Save Game. Click that, pick a new save file to create, and there you go, you’re all set. You’ll notice that the game does periodically autosave for you, which is great, but not constantly. Definitely create new files to cover your butt in case you do something dumb, or try something that is risky. Or if you really want to game PoE 2, before you roll any encounters so you can get the result you want every time.
That does it for how to save in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. Best of luck out there!
