How to Select Individual Party Members in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire

Recommended Videos

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, the follow up to the critically acclaimed Pillars of Eternity, brings back the modern take on the classic isometric-RPG formula beloved in the late 90s and early 2000s. You’ll control your party members from a top-down perspective and issue them commands while in battle. There are a ton of different factors to consider, such as what classes make up your party, and what abilities and spells they bring to the table. At times, you may need or want to just select and issue commands to just one party character instead of multiple.

Don’t worry, it’s super easy. To select an individual party member, just click on their portrait on the bottom left-hand side of your screen. When you do this, every movement or command will only be for that specific character. So keep in mind that he/she will move without the rest of the party until you box everyone back in together by dragging the left click, to once again move as a unit.

There are a number of reasons why you would want to do this. In battle, you can position your party members the way that you want in order to flank an enemy or avoid attacks. Another example would be to send one stealthy character out to retrieve something from a guarded area without bringing along your more clumsy members. On the easier difficulties you can more or less get away with doing whatever you want, but in the harder ones, you’ll need to carefully micromanage what they are doing both in and out of battle.

That does it for how to select individual party members and characters in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. Be sure to search Twinfinite for more PoE 2 guides and good luck out there in the Deadfire Archipelago.
